Vertigo: causes

Vertigo is sudden dizziness due to positional change, especially when getting up too quickly or turning around. One of the causes for vertigo can be a preexisting ear problem. In the ear is a structure called the vestibular labyrinth. This structure contains fluid and sensors that monitor head movement. Other structures function similarly, making us sensitive to pressure and gravity. When these structures are damaged it affects our balance, making us very sensitive to positional and pressure changes – causing vertigo symptoms.
